Care & Maintenance for Our Pens
How to Care for Your Wooden Pen – So It Brings You Joy for Years to Come
Wood is a beautiful, living material. Over time, it develops character, but it is also sensitive to moisture, temperature changes, and handling. That’s why each of our pens is treated with multiple coats of natural oils to preserve its appearance and durability.
Basic Care Guidelines
-
Avoid exposing the pen to water or high humidity. Wood can swell or crack.
-
Protect it from extreme temperatures. Sudden temperature changes or heat sources may damage it.
-
Use your pen regularly. Writing helps prevent the ink from drying out.
-
Handle the pen with clean hands. Especially important for lighter woods like olive or maple, where dirt is more visible.
-
Don’t place the pen on dirty or rough surfaces.
Restoring the Finish – Regular Maintenance
To keep your pen looking its best, we recommend applying fresh oil once every 1–2 months. It’s a quick and simple process:
What You’ll Need:
How to Do It:
-
Lightly moisten the sponge with oil and gently rub it onto all wooden parts of the pen.
-
Let the oil absorb for about one minute.
-
Wipe off any excess with a paper towel.
-
Allow the pen to rest for 15 minutes – and you’re done.
If the Pen Gets Dirty or Scratched
For Light Soiling:
For Heavier Stains or Minor Scratches:
-
Cover all metal parts with painter’s tape (it won’t leave marks).
-
Lightly sand the affected area with fine sandpaper (grit 800 or higher).
-
Reapply oil following the same steps as above.
This method also works for smoothing out small dents. If you're unsure how to proceed, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help or offer repair service when possible.
Final Thoughts
A wooden pen is not just a writing tool — it’s a personal item with a story. With a little attention, it will serve you for many years and elevate every word you write.
Thank you for choosing a pen from our workshop. We hope it will be part of many meaningful moments in your life.
